The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd

I adored Sue Monk Kidd's book "The Secret Life of Bees" and expected to love this one as well. I did not, I'm sad to say. I liked parts of the book, mostly those dealing with the mother, her friends and how the death of the main character's father years before affected them all. But the main character and her romance with the monk did nothing for me nor did her self-absorption.
